A dimpleplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery used to create dimples on the cheeks. Dimples are the indentations that occur when some people smile. They’re most often located on the bottoms of the cheeks.
WHAT IS A DIMPLEPLASTY?
Dimples can make your cheeks look narrower, and are considered to be cute, attractive, or even lucky. The procedure itself is considered a minor surgery. Dr Murray uses local anesthesia for a painless experience. The results can be a significant enhancement to your face. Dimples create a subtle attraction, and when occurring naturally, are actually a flaw in the formation of the cheek muscles. If nature did not give you the dimples you want, we can help.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF DIMPLEPLASTY?
The cheek area is numbed using local anesthesia, then a small incision is made in the inside of the cheek, underlying the preferred location of the dimple. Absorbable sutures are used to adhere the cheek muscles to the overlying skin. The absorbable suture will dissolve and absorbed over a period of a couple of weeks.
DIMPLEPLASTY RECOVERY
Recovery from dimpleplasty is fast and you can go home immediately after the procedure. You might experience some swelling in the area and, you'll still feel the effects of the local anaesthesia. That should, however, pass after a few hours.
For the swelling, cold packs will do, although the swelling should subside in a few days regardless if you do not use them. You can go back to work or resume regular activities within two days after the procedure. The surgeon will set up a follow-up appointment a few weeks later to check the results. In general, recovery takes about 2 weeks, but it may take a couple of months to see the full results.
