BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL

STARTING PRICE: $1,999.00

Buccal fat removal is also known as buccal lipectomy or cheek fat removal. This procedure can create a slimmer face by surgically removing fat pads in the lower cheek.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL

Buccal fat reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure that involves the removal of excess fat pads from the cheeks through small incisions inside the mouth. It aims to slim the face and enhance facial contours for a more defined appearance.

During your buccal fat removal, your doctor will sedate the treatment area through intravenous sedation. Once the area is numb, he will make an incision inside your mouth, on the inner portion of your cheek.

Next, your surgeon will gently push on your cheeks, popping your buccal fat pad into your mouth through the incision. From there, your surgeon can extract the fat pad and trim it to the desired size before putting it back in place within your cheek. When the newly trimmed fat pad is safely tucked back in your cheek, your surgeon will close his incision and repeat the process on your other cheek.

There is no visible scarring after your surgery.

WHO IS A GOOD CADIDATE FOR BUCCAL FAT REDUCTION?

This procedure is suitable for patients of all ages. It is an ideal treatment for patients who have facial fat that is resistant to dieting and exercise. Having larger cheeks is not always proportional to the weight of the patient since even slim patients can have chubby cheeks.

If you already have prominent cheekbones and only wish to rejuvenate the overall appearance of your face, it’s critical that you have realistic expectations for the outcome of cheek reduction surgery.

We work with you to determine whether you are a good candidate for this procedure.

BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL RECOVERY

Recovery time for this procedure is very short. Most patients like to have their procedure on a Friday in order to be ready for work on Monday. We highly recommend our patients make arrangements for someone to drive them home after their procedure since even after local anaesthesia, it’s best not to drive after the buccal fat removal.

Bruising and swelling can be expected and we recommend some ice compression. Therefore, it may take up to 3 weeks to see the final results.

The majority of the swelling goes down within the first few days of recovery. Following your procedure, you’ll likely need to stay on a liquid diet for at least several days.

You may also need to:

  • Take oral over the counter medication

  • Use a special mouth rinse to reduce the risk of infection

  • Apply topical medications to your incisions

  • Watch for signs of infection

  • Schedule a follow-up visit with your surgeon

Healing will continue for several weeks, with the swelling steadily decreasing. Continue to follow your surgeon’s instructions and attend follow-up visits as scheduled.

This is generally not a painful recovery, and most patients are quite comfortable with nothing more than over-the-counter medications. Some also find an ice pack helps with swelling.
